Thoughts

Another picture perfect day--almost windless, sunny with some cloudy periods. Today's walk was on many kilometers of red clay road, during which we did not pass a single home or meet a vehicle or person. Even the birds were very quiet. The smells at this time of year are so pungent--deep undergrowth, decaying leaves mixed with fresh cedar from all the fallen trees.

Likely one of the reasons we didn't meet anyone else is that the roads weren't in great condition for driving. Yesterday's late downpour left the roads slippery, with potholes filled with water and not great for driving. That worked for us because the walking was lovely, especially with fall colours coming out in full force.

We did walk on highway for about 5 km and continued to see trucks loaded with potatoes headed for the storage barns.

Dinner tonight will be in our inn (they do Friday and Sunday dinners) and then we are off to the local playhouse for a 'Johnny and June' Cash production. That will be about a 30 second walk:) Looking forward to the show!

  3. The music was great! It really was fun. And yes, getting close to finished, only 5 more walking days, just over 100 km to go!
